Lawyer Verification Policy

This policy explains listing tiers for counsel in China and under our International Lawyers directory. It works together with our Listing Standards page.

Who can be listed

Profiles are for legal professionals and practices relevant to China-related matters: PRC counsel for Into China work, and host-country counsel for Overseas (Chinese parties) work. Listing is not a guarantee of quality, outcome, or availability.

Listing tiers

Listed — profile published from available information; may be incomplete.
Claimed — a person associated with the profile has asserted control (e.g. account claim / confirmed email).
Verified — China Legal Portal has checked credentials appropriate to the route (e.g. PRC practice credentials or host-jurisdiction bar / firm confirmation) under our current process.
Featured / Preferred — commercial placement that may improve visibility; never a substitute for verification.

Evidence we may use

Depending on route and tier: official lawyer directories, firm website confirmation, bar numbers, government or regulator pages, identity and email domain checks, and re-verification over time. We may request documents from the lawyer or firm.

What “Verified” does not mean

Verification is not an endorsement, ranking of skill, or warranty. It does not mean China Legal Portal has supervised the lawyer’s work or resolved conflicts checks for your matter.

International Lawyers directory

Overseas profiles live under the International Lawyers region tree. Host-country admissions and languages (including Chinese/English) should be stated honestly on the profile. Thin or empty corridors may not be marketed as dense networks.

Corrections and removal

Lawyers and firms may request corrections or delisting via Contact. We may unpublish profiles that are misleading, infringing, or fail re-verification.
