Consumer protection begins by identifying the buyer’s purpose, the goods or service, seller or service provider, platform and payment path, and the precise defect or misconduct. Consumer status, product-quality remedies, contract remedies, platform responsibility and regulatory complaints overlap but have different elements and respondents. Preserve the order, invoice, listing and communications before online evidence changes.
Preserve originals, serial or batch identifiers, screenshots with metadata, samples under chain of custody, inspection and repair records, medical evidence, complaints and proof of loss. Calendar contractual, statutory, administrative and litigation deadlines separately.
Subject to editorial and legal review. Product, consumer and injury claims are fact-sensitive. Urgent safety, recall, medical, evidence-preservation and limitation issues require case-specific advice.
Confirm transaction and consumer status
Record who bought, for what purpose, from whom, through which channel and on what terms. The Consumer Rights Protection Law framework primarily protects purchases or services for daily consumption; business procurement and professional claim activity require separate analysis.
Information, fairness and personal data
Operators must provide truthful material information and may not use unfair standard terms to exclude liability or restrict consumer rights. Archive price, specifications, advertising, consent interfaces and privacy notices. Evaluate personal-information issues under both consumer and data rules.
Quality, repair, replacement and return
Classify nonconformity, defect, safety risk and ordinary change-of-mind return separately. Identify statutory or promised return periods, inspection, depreciation, freight and evidence requirements. Product-specific three-guarantees or recall rules may control.
Platforms and live commerce
Identify the actual operator, platform role, account, payment recipient, fulfilment party and knowledge or control evidence. Platform responsibility is fact-specific; do not name every intermediary as jointly liable without testing the statutory conditions.
Complaint and court routes
Possible routes include negotiation, consumer association, market-regulation complaint or report, arbitration where agreed, and litigation. A regulator may stop misconduct without awarding the full private remedy. Calendar limitation and evidence-preservation needs independently.
