Can a Chinese company establish a Swiss subsidiary?
Yes, subject to the selected legal form, resident-representation rules, registrations, tax, employment, immigration, regulatory permissions, funding, and China-side requirements for the actual project.
Does Switzerland currently screen foreign investment?
Switzerland adopted an Investment Screening Act in December 2025, and entry into force is currently planned for 2027. The implementing ordinance remains in development, so obtain current Swiss advice for transaction timing and scope.
When is FINMA authorization relevant?
It may be relevant when the planned activity falls within regulated financial services, institutions, products, infrastructures, or foreign-participant rules. Company formation by itself does not answer the regulatory question.
Does Zurich counsel cover every Swiss canton?
Not automatically. Federal law may apply nationally, but cantonal procedure, tax, permits, courts, and local practice can matter. Confirm geographic and professional scope directly with counsel.
