Matter routing

Classify the property right and the disputed event before choosing a remedy

A property dispute may concern ownership or another property right, the contract that was meant to create or transfer it, possession and use, registration, development or construction, leasing, security, co-ownership, succession, land status, or government action. Those questions can produce different parties, evidence, forums, and remedies, so the first task is to separate the underlying transaction from the registered and occupied position.

Questions that change the route

What property and right are disputed?
Identify the land parcel, building, unit or other immovable property; current register entry; ownership, land-use, mortgage, lease, residence, easement or co-ownership claim; boundaries and area; and whether urban, rural, collective, allocated, granted, residential, commercial, or another regime applies.
What event created the conflict?
Map sale, reservation, gift, inheritance, partition, financing, construction, delivery, lease, renewal, occupation, registration refusal or error, seizure, expropriation, demolition, management, neighbour interference, or unauthorized disposal.
Which protection is needed now?
Assess preservation, injunction, possession, performance, registration or correction, rescission, price or rent adjustment, repair, removal, compensation, damages, enforcement, and whether civil and administrative tracks must be coordinated.

Evidence to organize first

  • Real-estate register extract and certificate, cadastral and boundary material, land-use record, mortgage, seizure, notice, and registration history
  • Sale, reservation, lease, loan, security, construction, management, co-ownership, inheritance, marital-property, and settlement documents
  • Payment, tax, delivery, keys, occupation, utilities, inspection, defect, photographs, correspondence, valuation, loss, and limitation-period chronology

Consultation preparation

What to send before speaking with counsel

A focused first message helps a lawyer assess fit, urgency, conflicts, and likely next steps. Prepare:

  • a short summary of the issue and the outcome you want;
  • a dated timeline, including any filing, hearing, termination, or response deadline;
  • the key contract, notice, correspondence, registration, or decision documents;
  • the names and locations of the parties so the lawyer can check conflicts and jurisdiction; and
  • your preferred working language and whether you need an initial budget or fee estimate.

Do not send originals or unnecessary sensitive data before engagement terms and a secure document channel are confirmed.

Submit an initial enquiry.
