Flagship orientation

A legal corridor is not a checklist. It is a sequence of connected decisions.

Get the facts into view early, identify where China-side and Hungary advice intersect, then take the route that matches the commercial move—not a generic practice-area label.

03Coordination

Cross-border coordination

Make the handoff visible.

Host-country counsel does not replace China-side advice. The most consequential questions often sit where approvals, capital, governance, and enforcement cross jurisdictions.

China-side counsel
  • ODI, SAFE, and relevant China-side approvals
  • China-parent governance and authority
  • Mainland contracts and onshore implications
  • PRC enforcement or asset questions
Hungary counsel
  • Hungary entity, governance, and transaction documents
  • Employment, immigration, and local contracts
  • Hungary regulation and investment screening
  • Courts, arbitration, and host-country enforcement

Questions at the first call

Practical starting points.

Can a Chinese investor establish a Hungarian company?

Generally yes, subject to the activity, company form, capital, registration, beneficial ownership, tax, employment, sector licences, investment screening, and other operating requirements.

Does every Chinese investment require foreign-investment approval?

No. Filing depends on the investor, ownership chain, target, activity, transaction, thresholds, sector, and current temporary and permanent screening regimes. Assess all potentially applicable routes before signing and closing.

What currently supports a guest-investor residence application?

Official guidance currently identifies specified qualifying investments and detailed holding, documentary, entry, filing, and reporting conditions. Because immigration rules change, verify eligibility and the approved route directly with the authority before transferring funds.

Is investor residence the same as an investment-project approval?

No. Residence, corporate investment, screening, incentives, acquisition approval, employment, and operating licences are separate workstreams even when they relate to the same investor.
